Your credit score is one of your most valuable possessions, and it deserves a little extra TLC right now. On an every day basis, people are bombarded with phishing emails, and scams that could threaten your credit. But with the COVID-19 virus threat, these attacks have gone into overdrive.
It is important to do a regular check of your credit, and if you don’t already subscribe to a service that performs routine monitoring, you are in luck! Due to the pandemic, the three big hitters, TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax, are offering free weekly online reports through April 2021!
How do you enroll in this? Follow these steps recommended by Steve Anderson in his weekly Tech Tips report:
- Visit annualcreditreport.com
- Click on “Request your free credit reports.”
- Fill out a form to verify your identity.
- Pick the reports you want to access.
- Request and review your reports online.
- Repeat these steps to access each credit report.
Good credit is part of the insurance score that factors into your insurance premium, which is just another reason to stay on top of your scores. And if a scam is able to infiltrate your information and set up credit cards or accounts in your name, these monitoring companies will be able to alert you right away. Be safe!
